Behind the Scenes at the BOPIO Meeting At the BOPIO meeting, the team is hard at work discussing the present political situation of the UK and how minorities could contribute to the 2024 General Elections. Behind the scenes, the team is furthering its goals to understand how equity, inclusion, and the climate emergency all play a role in the greater fight for social justice. Weighing the Present Political Situation: This discussion requires a deep dive into the current political climate and the team is dedicated to weighing the pros and cons of the different strategies. In the context of greater inequality, hardship, fear, social division, and political distraction from social policy, they understand that their goals are even more urgent, harder to achieve, and the stakes are higher. Identifying Priorities: The team is also passionately identifying priorities that will bring about meaningful change. In order to put this plan into action, they need to be disciplined and focus on what matters most. This requires them to be ruthlessly honest with themselves about when they are true to their values and the priorities they have set and when they are not. Creating Community: The team recognizes that creating an equitable community requires them to listen to and trust each other in the way they have been learning to do on their journey towards active anti-racism. They also strive to never forget that the climate emergency is a major threat to the progress they are making in the struggle for social justice and to always hold it in the front of their minds. The Next BOPIO Meeting: You are invited to attend the next BOPIO Meeting taking place next week. It is sure to be an engaging event that will bring us all one step closer to achieving greater social justice. We hope to see you there!
